My favorite pastime is shopping. I love shopping at malls, thrift stores, pop-up sales, and in my friend’s closets. But to be honest, nothing beats shopping online. You find great deals, coupons, and the fashionable online closet is endless. The only problem with it being endless is that my cash is not. Here are a few tricks I learned while shopping online that helped me save lots of money while filling my vault with clothes and accessories.
Step 1: Start off on YouTube. Search for videos of fashion hauls, coupon codes or just type in “beauty haul coupon codes” and you will get a ton of videos that offer special codes to save on certain items while shopping online. The special codes sometimes give you up to 50% off one item. YouTuber beauty channels like Chloe Morello, Jacklyn Hill, Goo Roo Beauty, Michelle Phan, Gigi Gorgeous, Shaaanxo, and Lauren Curtis often have giveaways, offer codes and fashion ‘lookbooks’ to inspire your next purchase. The codes do have an expiration date so make sure you subscribe to them to keep updated on new codes.
Step 2: Sign up for email updates. Lots of stores that you like shopping at online will have an email update form. I recommend you do it because they will send you special offers almost every other day about sale alerts, new items, and clearance sales. You can also find out by email when they are having semi-annual sales. For example, Victoria’s Secret, Express, and Bath & Body Works all have their semi-annual sales in June, and January. Plus you get to skip all the lines and shop on-line. 1, 2, 3, and click…it is mine.
Step 3: Be patient. I am very impulsive when it comes to shopping online. If I like it then I must have it. IF YOU WAIT THEN THE CLEARANCE FAIRY WILL COME. Just because it is not on sale today, it does not mean that it will not go on sale to 50% off next week. Markdowns were made for shoppers like us. Look for the clearance button first to save money.
Step 4: Dailylook.com is a great place to shop. They offer 20% off when you sign up for their app. You also get $15 for every friend you invite. Free money for having friends equals awesome. Affordable prices for great clothes and accessories. They also give you many head-to-toe options.
Step 5: Always shop with a friend. This comes in handy for those 2 for 1 specials. You both save money. CharlotteRusse.com always has great deals where you get two items for the price of one. Sometimes they have 3 for 1 sale. And who could forget Topshop.com. No one offers greatest celebrity-inspired looks like they do, for at least 40% less than what you’d pay at any physical stores. Online stores have the advantage that they don’t have to pay rent, light bills, employees’ salaries, etc. Not having a physical store translates into a major discount for you, girl.
Step 6: Do not spend all your money at one site. Learn to share your money with many fashion sites to get more for less money. Look for the sites that offer free shipping. Many sellers on Ebay offer dresses for 12 usd, and offer free-shipping to the USA.
Step 7: Free shipping must be offered by any respectable website, if you spend $25 dollars or more.
Follow these simple steps and you will save a lot of money while shopping online. That next discount is only a mouse-click away.
